The USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative’s Inequality in 1,300 Popular Films research showed that across the top films from 2007 to 2019, less than 3% of speaking characters were characters with disabilities. Compare that to real life, where 20-25% of Americans live with a disability.
The Ruderman Foundation showed in their 2019 White Paper, Disability Inclusion in Movies and Television: Market Research, today’s audiences want more representation and accurate portrayals of characters with disabilities.
There are ONE BILLION people in the world experiencing some form of a disability, yet until NOW, there has NEVER BEEN a series with fully authentic representation performed by a fully inclusive cast… Until The Hunt for the Holiday Spirit!
The Next Phase
In 2014, I wrote and directed The Hunt for the Holiday Spirit, a musical performed at a day center. Our cast of actors with developmental disabilities crushed it, eliciting both laughter and tears with their performance. I needed to share this with the world.

As an animated series, we can deliver this gift worldwide. The Hunt for the Holiday Spirit is a groundbreaking cartoon series for kids, with clever wit and charisma adults will adore. Our idealistic adventure edutains and inspires with captivating music and meaningful messaging.
Our smile-inducing characters include four children and their family, The Pearls. The Magic Snowwoman, a groovy Snow Angel, and The Great Christmas Tree will have kids loving and learning for generations. Think Charlie Brown specials or Rudolph or Frosty, but with 24 episodes. It’s a Wizard of Oz-like adventure with Sesame Street smarts, and characters who lift your soul.

After several years preparing for this moment, we, at The Good Vibe, are finding our way to a meaningful life. Inclusivity is great in words but best in action. Reconnecting with some of our original actors to voice their old characters has been a blessed creative reunion.
We are only fully whole when all voices are heard. Everyone has important insights to share and we can help them do so by listening. In this way, we can make the world a better place each day, empowering an evolving world. When we work towards a better world for all, our lives gain more joy, meaning, and purpose.
